The Garden
Powered by the Highland Lakes Master Gardeners at Trinity Episcopal Church, Marble Falls, Texas

The Highland Lakes Master Gardener Association started The Helping Center community garden in 2011 to grow vegetables for the Helping Center food pantry clients, as well as to highlight gardening techniques and provide instruction.  After eight years next to The Helping Center in Marble Falls, the community garden is pulling up roots and relocating to the Trinity Episcopal Church at 909 Avenue D, Marble Falls.  This move is due to the Helping Center food pantry moving from its current location to be part of the new community resource center in the 1100 block of Broadway.

The garden move brings with it a new name:  The Garden Powered by the Highland Lakes Master Gardeners at Trinity Episcopal Church.  The mission, however, remains the same:  to provide produce to The Helping Center food pantry and to offer educational outreach programs to the community.

The Garden’s new location has about the same amount of space as the old, but is on more level ground, making it more efficient.  It will have twenty-four raised (garden) beds with four of them designed for people who are handicapped.  The plan also includes at least two keyhole gardens, space for fruit trees, a 60-foot-by-30-foot in-ground plot, a composting section, and a rainwater collection system with a 14 thousand gallon capacity tank.

The Highland Lakes Master Gardeners plan to continue their outreach with more classes and programs at the new location.  Several businesses are helping with a new garden building and a rainwater collection system at the new site, but more funding is needed.  Please see the website section for The Garden Fund-raising for more information on how to donate.

The Garden is expected to be ready at the new location in Spring 2020.  If you can’t donate money, volunteers are always needed and welcome, even if you don’t have gardening experience.

The garden is operating on MWF, 8-10:30 schedule.  It particularly needs volunteers on Wed.
and Fri.

PLEASE, if you could find a date to lend a hand it would be appreciated.
The group that has diligently been there so much could really use some help.

Thank you,
